From Myhregaarden to The Villa

Stavanger boasts a rich history spanning nearly 900 years. Over the past century, Myhregaarden, now known as The Villa, has been a key gathering place for both locals and visitors.

" ... It is an impressive four-story building with a full facade of leather-colored facing bricks, and the ground floor in light sandstone ... "

Stavanger Aftenblad, April 28, 1900

Unlike other major cities in Norway, Stavanger has very few classic urban buildings. Among them, the old Myhregaarden, now The Villa, stands out as a recognizable landmark between Nygata, Østervåg, and Klubbgata.

Preserving history was crucial when opening The Villa. Elements from Myhregaarden and the Historicism style period have been carefully integrated into the design.

We challenge conventions and offer our own interpretation of Historicism. Each floor is painted in colors that reflect the building's rich history.

Each floor has its own story:

  • 2nd floor: Red, symbolizing the slaughterhouse in a romantic setting.
  • 3rd floor: Deep blue, representing the laundry.
  • 4th floor: Green, referring to the dye works.
  • 5th floor: Light, representing the distillery.

Through our design, we aim to provide guests with a unique experience that combines historical heritage with modern comfort. Welcome to The Villa, where the past meets the present in harmonious balance.
